Grower Self Assessment

From the 2024-25 season onwards, there are changes to the way you complete your ISCC Self Declaration through the NGR.

From July 2nd 2024, you need to complete an online Self Assessment on the Sustainable Grain Australia (SGA) website, prior to completing your Self Declaration on the NGR website.

The Self Assessment is designed to provide a quick overview of your farming operations in relation to ISCC requirements. This will enable you to assess whether your operations comply with the ISCC requirements and if you are satisfied that you can meet them, you can proceed as before to complete your Self Declaration on the NGR website.

This new step of completing your Self Assessment first will give you confidence when completing your Self Declaration, knowing the details of what ISCC require for farm certification. If your operations don’t meet all the requirements, you will also know what you need to do to meet them.

Why this change?

SGA has implemented this change to make it easier for you to check whether you meet ISCC requirements before you contract to sell grain as ISCC sustainable.

This is now a mandatory step prior to completing the Self Declaration on the NGR website. Completing the Self Assessment before the Self Declaration allows you to evaluate how your farming business will perform if you are subsequently selected for an audit.

What’s the process?

To make the process as easy possible, the SGA website now includes a user-friendly online portal to streamline the process for growers.

  1. Access the SGA Portal (portal.sustainablegrain.com.au).
  2. You will then be asked to set a password to ensure your data is secure.
  3. Once in the portal, click on ‘Self Assessment’ and answer the questions.
  4. Click submit.
  5. Take note of the 7 digit code that pops up, you will need it to complete your Self Declaration on the NGR site.

Watch this video for more details on how to log in and complete your Self Assessment.

Completing the initial Self Assessment will take you approximately 20 to 30 minutes, and considerably less time in subsequent years.

When the Self Assessment is complete, you will be issued a code to unlock access to the Self Declaration. You can then go the the NGR website to complete your SGA Self Declaration.
