Growers should be aware that from the 2024-25 year onwards, there will be changes to the way you complete your ISCC Self Declaration through the NGR.
From July 1st 2024, you will need to complete an online Self Assessment [SC1] through the Sustainable Grain Australia (SGA) website. Once you have completed your Self Assessment, you will then be able to complete your online Self Declaration on the NGR website. This two-step process will give you the ISCC sustainability certification you need to gain greater access to markets and delivery points.
Why this change?
SGA has implemented this change to make it easier for you to check whether you meet ISCC requirements BEFORE you contract to sell grain as ISCC sustainable. This is now a mandatory step prior to completing the Self Declaration on the NGR website. Completing the Self Assessment before the Self Declaration allows you to evaluate how your farming business will perform if you are subsequently selected for an audit.
What’s the process?
To make the process as easy possible, the SGA website now includes a user-friendly online portal to streamline the process for growers.
- To access the portal, use this link https://portal.sustainablegrain.com.au to gain access to your farm’s Self Assessment form.
- Once in the portal, click on ‘Self Assessment’ and answer the questions.

- Completing the initial Self Assessment will take you approximately 20mins, and considerably less time in subsequent years.
- The portal allows you to assess your current position in relation to the ISCC standards.
- When the Self Assessment is complete, you will be issued a code to unlock access to the Self Declaration.
